uddoss - knifemaker

This guy makes very small knives, I think is a YT only seller :

He does a lot of single bevel grinds and does epoxy/cord handles.

Yes. Uddo is a hobby maker.. He is on a benefit in his country for 1 reason or another (explained in a video) and because of this he cannot sell and make a profit as it would adversely effect him.

He purchases pre-made blanks like Enzo etc and cuts the tangs down to size and makes resin-wrap handles..

he sent me one as a gift, and I've yet had time to try it out..

neat little blade, but I did find the handle woefully small for any difficult work. IT would be very good for many utility tasks though

The handles are really small, never used one but just looking at them, it seems obvious they are small precision cutters. Regardless of the scale though I have to appreciate innovation/creation whatever the scale and hence his epoxy/cord handles are kind of interesting. Now he isn't the first to do that, lots of people do it with traditional Japanese knives but they tend to just do cord soaks, he actually wraps and polishes to flat and also has odd/rough surfaces patterns as well.

The knives are pretty interesting in the gutting, bird and trout knife kind of a way. What is also impressive is how often he gives them away

i am retired by now. i love my knife making and knife talking hobby and i won't
make it a business, even i had the chance. it's about enjoying a hobby.
but i want people to know about my knives and my ideas about knives, for that
reason advertising is good. but i won't sell something, it would make me happy,
when people pick up my ideas and start a hobby like this themself.
i want to tell people, go for your knife passion, if you have any.
my knives are small neck knives in the style of alan folts minimalist, but
with the advantages of a bigger scandi knife.
i always carry my uddopuukko neck knife and a big size folder.
the neck knife isn't for working through everything for me, but there are other uddopuukko
owners, they use it as their one and only knife for everything.
thanx 4 being interested or just talking about my knives, this means mission accomplished
to me. uddo

I believe this was for a particular time in the past and isn't a permanent status.

That's good news. He mentioned it in a video not long ago saying he would not be selling them

I didn't see a video changing this. Maybe I missed it

Hello uddoss. Cliff mentioned you awhile back, I watched one of your videos and became a subscriber. I like the entire look of your blades. Purposeful but not tacticool. Your knives have a great style to them.

This is a pretty interesting guy, he has a very different view than most makers because it is rare to see him doing something as it is popular and he often just ignores the ways things are generally done.

I don't in general use hand lashes but this approach is interesting and is simply an extension of the way he turns 3 finger knives into full grip handles.

Ha! I have been corresponding with Uddo for about a week now about buying one of his knives. He wrote me this long email about how I shouldn't buy it because it wasn't perfect. How's that for marketing spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

I like how he is finding his own way in becoming a knife maker, and not taking whatever he happens to hear at face value.

I've recently subbed to his channel, I like him. His views on life are quite unique, as are his views on knives. I might have to pick up one of his knives some day.

I like his videos, and his knives look great, and I am a sucker for a good neck knife. Usually a three finger grip is something I don't want, but as long as it has a loop for the pinky, then I think they are great. Has anyone had any experience with his knives? I saw Cliff had one, anyone else use them yet? I was thinking of getting one, I like the style of the knives and the maker seems to be a good guy on top of that.

I have two of Uddo's knives and I like them quite a bit. His mini-neck knife is something every knife knut should own, or at least try out.

I have one of his o-hole knives, it's very comfortable for what it is, and the grind's actually quite thin. The handle material is also pretty good, impact resistant and semi-squishy. The knife I have I think was converted from a previous one so it had an interesting compound of hollow and convex grinds along the entire primary. His finishing work isn't impressive, but for someone doing knives as a hobby and not for profit, not bad. I really should get more pictures of it.
